President Donald TRUMP has mandated a six-month cessation of Anthropic AI technology across all federal agencies. The directive follows a breakdown in negotiations between the AI firm and the Pentagon regarding military applications of its systems.

The WHITE House confirmed the phaseout after Anthropic refused to modify ethical safeguards in its terms of service. The company maintains restrictions on using its Claude model for mass surveillance or autonomous weapons systems—a stance Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claims jeopardizes national security operations.

Anthropic will challenge its new designation as a supply chain risk, which prohibits military contractors from engaging with the company. Legal proceedings could set precedents for AI governance in defense applications.
